AMI is an integrated system including smart metering devices, the communication infrastructure, and data management (HES/MDM) systems that enables two-way communication between utilities and the end customers. This together with data analytics on metering data available can be used to identify opportunities of energy savings and optimization.

These solutions are used for applications pertaining to Electricity, water and Gas metering in the respective utilities, as also, multi-utility applications within the infrastructure projects

What is a HES/MDM?

Typically the Head-end System (HES) or Meter data management (MDM) system, unifies the metering data, coming from different data collection systems, and distributes the information to the backend systems. The integration with the utility systems is not limited to the integration with existing utility software systems but has an impact on the utility processes, which need to be adapted to the potentiality of an AMI system.
